2014 Santa Monica Pier Party

Looking for some good old family fun this weekend? Come to Santa Monica for a Pier Party this Sunday and enjoy a beautiful day with your family while supporting a great cause – we’ll be there too! On April 27th at the historical Santa Monica Pier in Santa Monica, CA there will be a fundraiser benefitting all students in the SMMUSD (Santa Monica-Malibu Unified School District). In 1982, when federal and state budget cuts began affecting the quality of education, a group of local business owners, parents, and community members came together and created the Santa Monica-Malibu Education Foundation (SMMEF). This foundation began raising awareness and funds for the children of the SMMUSD in order to enhance the curriculum and protect the futures of the students. Working with the district, SMMEF distributes financial support to the schools and augments the lacking areas so the children can receive the education and attention they deserve.

This Sunday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. all ticket proceeds for the pier party in Pacific Park will go to the foundation for educational support. There will be 12 amusement rides, games, and a food plaza with an ocean view. The park also has the world’s only solar powered Ferris wheel, and a steel roller coaster that soars 55 feet above the Santa Monica Bay. Mimes and stilt walkers will entertain with their whimsical charm and the arts and crafts, food and raffles offer activities for all ages. Kids can get their face and hair painted and a live DJ will provide music for the event. There will even be touch tanks from the Santa Monica Pier Aquarium.

The Pier Party honors the students and the incredible faculty members as well as offering the community an event for all ages. The SMMEF must raise $4 million annually to assist the SMMUSD Vision for Student Success which gives students the support they need to flourish and prepare for their futures. This fundraiser is a wonderful way to bring the community together for a great cause and raise awareness for the students and schools.
