5 Updates For Your Family’s Summer Beauty Routine

I consider myself a fairly low maintenance person, especially when it comes to my beauty routine. I like a good massage, mani/pedi, hair cut & color, or facial as much as the next girl, but they are far and few between. If nothing else, I simply like my hair and skin to be healthy. As with most things in life, my summer beauty routine looks and works better when it starts with a healthy base.

In many ways, the summer season is great for our hair and skin. For starters, there is no long cold weather to dry out our skin and damage our hair but summer comes with it’s own unique set of challenges too. Harsh UV Rays, oily sunscreens, chlorinated water, and long days spent in flip flops present their own beauty conundrums. Which is why it’s so important to make sure your beauty routine is keeping up with the seasons.

5 Updates For Your Family’s Summer Beauty Routine

Your Hair

Summer fun can wreck havoc on your hair. UV Rays, Salt Water, Chlorinated Pools, and sweat can all be really tough as they all tend to dehydrate your hair. Combine that with the many products meant to combat those issues and the problem likely gets worse. During the summer months, it’s important to switch to a shampoo and conditioning treatment that hydrates and protects. Suave Professionals Deep Moisture shampoo and conditioner is enriched with a panthenol and keratin serum to replenish moisture and nourish your hair. Consider adding an alcohol-free leave-in conditioner to your regimen.

Your Face

Sweat and sunscreen can have you cleansing more frequently during the summer, stripping away essential oils that keep your skin moisturized. Likewise, cleaning your skin too little can allow these products to build and create acne. Leaving you in a delicate balance.  During the summer months consider foregoing your morning cleanse and utilizing a light moisturizer that contains SPF 15 or higher.

Use gentle makeup removers to eliminate makeup instead of going right to the harsher face wash.

Your Body

Irritants like sunscreen, self tanner, and chlorine can all damage your skin throughout the summer months. Make sure to exfoliate weekly with a conditioning body scrub to keep your skin looking fresh. Follow it up with hydrating body lotion after each shower. Suave Advanced Therapy Lotion is formulated for maximum hydration.

Your Feet

The cutest sandals in the world can’t hide beach feet and in fact, they’re probably making the problem worse. Try to wear socks when you’re home instead of going barefoot. Regular pedicures are helpful but you should also be sure you’re moisturizing daily especially after your shower and before bed. Consider keeping a pumice stone in the shower for quickly removing dead skin build up.

Your Kids

I don’t know about your kids but mine tend to be dirtier than ever come summer time. During the school year, we can get away with bathing every other day but long days spent in dirt, sand and salt water make for some particularly dirty kids come summer time. Nightly baths are basically a necessity and while it’s all fun and games at first, it quickly becomes a chore. Switching to a 2 in 1, like Suave Kids Strawberry Smoother 2-in-1 Shampoo and Conditioner lets us skip a step and save a few minutes.
