Dishes

Recently our dishwasher started acting up. At the time I didn’t really know what was going on with it. But my dishes were coming out murky and occasionally bits and pieces of things would be stuck on. I was disgusted. The LAST straw was when I had guests coming over for a bag party and the dishes wouldn’t come clean. It wasn’t that they were exactly dirty, but they had this dingy dull quality. Like a residue was being left behind. It looks unappetizing to say the least.

I had guests showing up within a few hours and the dishes I would need to use were still dirty. It was about that time that I snapped. I may or may not have (okay, I did) shoved any dishes I didn’t need in the oven and closed it.  Unfortunately, I still had to hand wash the dishes I needed. Hand washing dishes is probably the most disgusting, monotonous household chore. I spent the entire time fuming and to be honest, if I could if I could have lifted the dishwasher I would have thrown it right out the door. To top it all off, the dishes I washed for the party only ended up dirty again afterward. They went right in the oven too. No one was ever the wiser! To be honest, I probably would have continued to cram them in there forever, or until it filled, whichever came first.

But after a day or so my husband realized we didn’t seem to have any dishes left in the house. Long story short – and it pains me to admit this – it turns out my dishwasher was clogged and the film was from buying cheap detergent. But now the clog is gone and I’ve started using quality detergent - Cascade Platinum. I haven’t had to rinse and repeat, or wash anything twice since I started using it.  Now if only Cascade Platinum could magically rinse, dry and put them away.

Now my dishes look great with no filmy residue to detract from the yummy food I place on them. These days people want their food to look as good as it tastes. Even celebrity chefs agree. Top Chef judge and editor of Food+Wine magazine, Gail Simmons, has partnered with Cascade to discuss why presentation is just as important as preparation.

“The easiest recipes pop with unexpected, gourmet presentations. Drizzle bright sauces on sparkling white plates or layer desserts in crystal-clean glassware. Keep your presentation sparkling with Cascade Platinum, which keeps dishes perfect for anytime entertaining and impromptu guests.”
