The D23 International Expo Heads to Tokyo

D23 Expo Heads to Tokyo

Mickey Mouse has his passport ready, is packing his bags and heading to Tokyo, Japan for the first international D23 Expo this October. No word yet on who he’ll bring along for the trip, but, one would think his girlfriend Minnie would be along for the ride. Perhaps he’ll travel by private plane or hitch a ride with Ironman. With “Muppets Again” coming to the big screen in 2014, maybe Kermit the Frog and Miss Piggy will be in town for the show as well. (They both appeared at the 2011 D23 Expo in California).

So what’s on the schedule for the first D23 international Expo? There will be two special exhibitions “Treasures of the Walt Disney Archives” and a retrospective look at the Tokyo Disney Resort. “Treasures of the Walt Disney Archives” features a collection from the Archives’ collection over the last 9 decades to pay tribute to the 90th anniversary of The Walt Disney Company.

The three day event is sure to be full of magical celebrations as fans gather to celebrate the 30th Anniversary of Tokyo Disney’s Resort.

“We are thrilled to host this extraordinary, three-day event where all the wonderful worlds of Disney come together,” said Paul Candland, president, The Walt Disney Company Japan. “2013 marks The Walt Disney Company’s 90th anniversary, Disney Channel’s 10th, Disney Mobile’s fifth, the Disney–JCB Card’s fifth, Dlife’s first, and Tokyo Disney Resort’s 30th! The D23 Expo Japan allows us to show Disney’s tremendous appreciation to its fans.”

International fans will enjoy unique experiences; be able to purchase exclusive merchandise and collectibles; meet many of their favorite Disney characters; and other magical surprises. D23 Expo Japan will take place October 12–14, 2013, at the Tokyo Disney Resort® in the Maihama area. D23 Expo ticketing and program information will be available later this month.

How many of you have been to a D23 Expo? If you can’t make it to the D23 in Japan, remember the D23 Expo is in Anaheim, CA this August 9-11 and tickets are on sale now!
