Dave and Busters is one of the most popular venue choices for kids and adults alike to have a great time, and this summer is no different. Launching their Summer of Games 2013, the restaurant chain is introducing new food, new drinks, and new games to provide a refreshing and new experience for guests of all ages.
As a fan of Dave and Busters, I was excited to check out their new additions myself. Thanks to our local Irvine establishment, my friends and I were able to taste and play our way through the Summer of Games!
The first change I noticed was the sports bar area towards the entrance. The era of a wooden and enclosed bar has completely changed, being revamped into a bright and more welcoming space. The manager told us they were aiming for a more upscale and comfortable bar experience similar to one found in Vegas, and they hit the mark perfectly. While there’s still the dining and play area, the new bar is a perfect area for guests 21+ to enjoy some adult drinks and watch a game.
The redesign continues in the Midway gaming area that’s open concept now, with white tile, tables, and increased lighting. We were seated at one of the tables by the GAMEBAR and had a great spot for viewing sports, bar action, and guests playing in the arcade.
With orange slice: The Strawberry Sangria, with the palm tree: Miami Ice; featuring a green sugar rim: The Summerita; and with the baby Corona bottle: the CoronaRita.
Right away, we were all excited to try the new drink menu Dave and Busters has to offer. Cocktails with flavored ice cubes have been popular in upscale clubs, but no other chain has rolled them out nationally. Two of the new cocktails on the menu, the Summerita and the Strawberry Sangria both have strawberry flavored ice cubes so we decided to try those, along with the new innovative drinks including the Miami Ice snow cone and their most popular drink, the CoronaRita. We all took turns trying all of the different drink options, and while they’re all amazing, the Strawberry Sangria is definitely my favorite.
While we had a table, the manager suggested we walk over to the GAMEBAR to watch their entertaining bartenders JT and Rueben put on a one-of-a-kind show, making specialty drinks. If you’re waiting for a table or for your food to arrive, definitely check out the talented bartenders!
The new Summer of Games menu at Dave and Busters has a little something for everyone. One of my friends can only eat gluten-free, and another is vegetarian but there is such a wide variety of new menu options that there genuinely is enough to choose from. Our group decided to split the calamari and banana pepper appetizer that has one of the tastiest dipping sauces, and is great for a group of hungry diners! For dinner, our table tried the new Chicken & Waffles that’s made from Lays potato chip-crusted chicken that’s paired with a rich French onion dip gravy and maple syrup, along with the grilled salmon, two of the new Corona Island grilled shrimp entrees and the surf and turf pasta. While this was more than enough food for our group, the other new menu options of delicious Bacon-Wrapped Beef Medallions and the flavorful Grilled Balsamic Chicken are worth trying!
The restaurant chain rolled out eight new games this summer, ranging from big-screen versions of mobile apps to the next evolution in 3D games. Well known mobile games, such as Temple Run and Cut the Rope have been redesigned to allow players to win prizes. For fans of fully immersive attractions, Dave and Busters now has Dark Escape 4D and Dream Raiders to transport players to a completely different world. Even better, guests are welcome to enjoy free plays on five of the newest games! The new four-way ice hockey was a blast and we all had a great time with Cut the Rope!
Dave and Busters truly has a lot to offer everyone, and visiting has never been more alluring. In addition to five free plays on the newest games, there is also the Eat Play Win Combo where you can get a $10 game card with participating entrees and half price games on Wednesdays! All of these deals, of course, are in addition to their already amazing happy hour featuring half off drinks such as the new Strawberry Sangria and the CoronaRita in addition to all of the traditional favorites. With so much new to try, you’ll have to head to Dave and Busters this summer and see for yourself!
