Actress Gwyneth Paltrow has got mad skills, yo! The stunning, 40 year old mother of two, was just named “Most Beautiful Woman in the World” by People magazine. It was an honor to get to sit down and chat with her, just hours before the red carpet premiere of “Iron Man 3” in Los Angeles.
Sometimes its hard not to be intimidated by celebrities, especially when the actress you’re interviewing is as accomplished as Paltrow. (and just named the most beautiful woman in the world, no less). Not to mention an actress that plays Iron Man’s girlfriend, gets to wear his suit in the new movie and kick some serious ass! Yet when her publicist told her about People magazine’s title, she responded with a humble “I thought it was a trick or a joke (played by my old school bully), and when I realized it wasn’t, I was excited.” She was also flattered, and still finds it hard to believe.
In 1991, Paltrow, daughter of Producer Bruce Paltrow and award winning actress Blythe Danner, appeared in her first film “Shout” with John Travolta. Today, she has an impressive and extensive bio: she’s won an Oscar for Best Actress (“Shakespeare In Love”), a Golden Globe, owns the lifestyle company Goop.com and has written two cookbooks: “My Father’s Daughter: Delicious, Easy Recipes Celebrating Family & Togetherness”, and her latest “It’s All Good.”
Her new cookbook, “It’s All Good“, is gluten-free, which was written after she was inspired to create recipes that wouldn’t exacerbate her son’s eczema. Both Gwyneth’s parents taught her how to act, but it was her father that shared his love of food and cooking with her.
“The kitchen is an amazing place to teach and interact with children”
When Paltrow talks about her own children, Apple and Moses, you realize she’s even more down to earth. Yes, she’s crazy talented, but she’s also a Mom that faces a lot of the same everyday challenges other mom’s encounter.
Is Gwyneth one of the Coolest Moms Ever? Well let’s see, her kids have met Iron Man; they spent time on the “Iron Man 3″ set learning to drive golf carts around; got to watch Mom wear the Iron Man suit; Pepper Potts now has a LEGO figure; and she took them, and 17 of their friends to a private screening in England. That has to be hard to top!
So then after seeing the film, what are her thoughts?
“I loved Robert, like, Tony Stark being really stripped back and raw and you know, having to kind of MacGyver his way back to, you know, strength and I just, I loved the relationship with Pepper and Tony.
Of course we had to ask her what it’s like to wear the suit, who doesn’t want to know that?
“It was really weird, like I’ve never done anything like that in my whole career, and my son was on set, and so I’ll never forget it. I walk out onto the set, and I was fully dressed in the suit, and his face, I’ll never forget his face. Like, he was in shock and awe. It was so cool.”
Paltrow’s husband Chris Martin, is the lead singer of Coldplay, so its kind of funny to learn they really enjoy hip hop music. Her son is a big fan of Kid Cutter, and call him a “feelings” rapper. Gwyneth even raps when cooking and when we asked her about it, she said “How did you know? Do you have a hidden camera in my kitchen?”
Of course, I know what’s on everyone’s mind is what’s it like to work with RDJ?
“Robert Downey Jr. is a mad genius and fun loving. You really stay on your toes with his spontaneous ideas. His relationship with Harley (Ty Simpkins) in “Iron Man 3″ is how he REALLY is.”
There’s a lot of buzz about Pepper Potts getting her own movie from the press, and Pepper having her own suit like the comic character “Rescue”. So when it came around to my turn at asking a question, I asked if Gwyneth could design her own Iron Man suit, what would it look like? She responded with “Silver and white”, which are her favorite colors. (those are my favorite colors too!)
