The Toy Story cast is back in their first made-for-television movie, Toy Story Terror! The spooky new tale reunites all of your favorite Toy Story characters in an all-new Halloween special, set to air on Wednesday, October 16th at 8 p.m. ET on ABC.
What starts out as a fun road trip for the “Toy Story” gang takes an unexpected turn for the worse when the trip detours to a roadside motel. After one of the toys goes missing, the others find themselves caught up in a mysterious sequence of events that must be solved before they all suffer the same fate in this “Toy Story OF TERROR!”
ABC kindly invited me to watch the show in advance of tonight’s release and I thoroughly enjoyed the entire television special. As an adult, I enjoyed seeing the Toy Story cast take on the classic scary movie scenario in a tongue-in-cheek manner; but I would recommend parents having discretion about their little ones watching the film if they are prone to nightmares. There are a few scenes that may be considered ‘frightening’ for younger audiences, but the film is a mixed bag of both tricks and treats that will leave audiences of all ages laughing their fair share as well.
One of the many treats in the film is the addition of Combat Carl played by Carl Weathers. Often talking in third-person, Combat Carl is an adorable action hero who works with the group, strategizing a plan to help the gang get back to their owners.
In addition to new favorites including Combat Carl, all of the classic Toy Story characters are back including Tom Hanks as Woody, Tim Allen as Buzz, Joan Cusack as Jessie, Timothy Dalton as Mr. Pricklepants, Don Rickles as Mr. Potato Head, Wallace Shawn as Rex and Kristen Schaal as Trixie.
