I Got “Lucky” With Nicholas Sparks

I got lucky with Nicholas Sparks! I was chosen to host a House Party for the Nicholas Sparks novel “The Lucky One” out of thousands of applicants, I was one of the lucky ones to receive a party pack full of goodies!!!

Last weekend I hosted a Nicholas Sparks Potluck House Party for Nicholas Sparks fourteenth novel “The Lucky One” with moms from my Mom’s group. It was an evening filled with southern food, laughter, conversation about Nicholas Sparks novel and the upcoming movie and adult beverages. As you’ve probably guessed some, alright a lot of the conversation, revolved around the movie which opens this weekend and how hot Zac Efron looks in the previews.

Let me back up for a minute and tell you a little about House Party. House Party partners with popular brands to throw thousands of parties across the country, hosted by people like me that apply and are chosen. Parties are sponsored by brands like Kraft Foods, Playstation, bands like One Direction or an author like Nicholas Sparks and focuses on something cool that the sponsor wants its best fans to experience and share with their friends. When chosen to host a party you get access to their party page to create invitations, access to favors and a party pack full of swag for you and your guests for a fun filled event.

This was my third House Party and the most fun party to date! My party pack contained fifteen movie edition copies of “The Lucky One” by Sparks, two t-shirts, an autographed bookplate, fifteen bookmarks and a movie poster! It was a potluck party and we provided cheese, fruit, spinach dip, chicken salad, chips, crackers and chicken fingers to snack on. Some of our guests brought cookies, cheesecake, Italian meatballs and wine. And of course there was more wine, mixed beverages, beer and sodas. I mean you can’t have a party without a lot of food and beverages to enjoy.

We spent the evening talking about other novels written by Sparks, like “The Notebook” and “Dear John” since there were only two of us that had already read “The Lucky One” we didn’t want to spoil it for the others. House Party provided us with some trivia on the author and a video clip to watch of Sparks talking about the movie. Since we only had a few prizes and not everyone was familiar with Sparks I hid the autographed bookplate in one of the gift bags and so everyone had to pen their books to see if they were the lucky one. Then we had another contest for the shirt, it was kind of ironic, the same person that won the autograph had luck on her side and also won the shirt! She said she’d never won anything before!

Thank you House Party for choosing me as “the lucky one”! We had a blast and I can’t wait to host another party!

I was not compensated by House Party for writing this post nor was it conditional on being chosen to host. As always all opinions are 100% my own.

  1. Thanks for a great party! I had a blast. My mother-in-law came to visit after the party and stole my Nicholas Sparks book though :( Now I guess I will have to go buy one before I see the movie.
