Late Night Munchies

This post brought to you by Jack in the Box. All opinions are 100% mine.

I was very fortunate to grow up in a suburban town along the coast, but the one thing I hated about the sleepy beach was that everything was closed by 10pm. Grocery stores, restaurants, and diners all shut their doors well before midnight, so when those late night munchies of being a teenager came along, my friends and I flocked to the one 24 hour convenience store to load up on slushies and packaged snacks. Now as an adult, I still get plenty of cravings well after dinnertime, but luckily, this beautiful City of Angels is stocked well with options open through dawn.

Staying up past my bedtime is not something I'm always proud of (especially when I have to explain why I'm falling asleep on my desk the next morning), but once in a while, it's completely necessary. For my three year journey in Los Angeles thus far, my best friend has either been living with me or next door to me, so you can imagine we've done some silly things once our second-wind kicks in near midnight. Lip syncing music videos, a kitchen linoleum slip and slide, and listening to really weird music are among our classics, but the countless occasions of drive-thru hopping are my favorites. Sometimes, you just want very specific items from very specific eateries.

Munchie Meal

Last night, we spent midnight yet again in the Jack In The Box drive-thru, but was happily surprised to try a new menu item: Jack’s Munchie Meal™. For $6 and some change for tax, we got a sandwich, two tacos, a small drink, and halfsies (half curly fries and half French fries- a.k.a. best of both worlds). Considering that Jack In The Box serves the largest small drinks of all time, and my best friend was dying for fries while I wanted tacos, we opted to share one of Jacks Munchie Meals for a late night snack. Aside from their seasoned curly fries and gigantic drinks, one of my favorite things about Jack In The Box is their desire to serve breakfast all the time, so in the sake of tradition, I ordered the Brunch Burger sandwich. The whole meal came in a perfectly sized box complete with a spin the taco game on the inside of the lid. I had to burp my mother's name.

Jack’s Munchie Meal™ options, served from 9pm-5am:

-Stacked Grilled Cheese Burger: Sourdough grilled cheese on top, Cheeseburger on bottom. Tuck into this tasty bunk bed!
– Loaded Nuggets: Chicken nuggets drowning in two types of cheese with ranch and bacon. Rescue them!
– Exploding Cheesy Chicken: A chicken sandwich exploding with mozzarella, cheesy sticks, and gooey white cheese sauce. Oh my cheesy goodness!
– Brunch Burger: A burger with a fried egg and a crispy hash brown for when it’s so late you don’t know whether its breakfast, lunch or dinner.

Needless to say, we've found our new go-to for after dark eating. Have you ever had a crazy adventure in the sake of late-night dining?
