Attending and actually walking down the red carpet at “The Iron Man 3″ premiere at El Capitan Theatre is a surreal experience. Even though I am lucky enough to have attended several red carpet premieres at The El Capitan, each one is a unique experience that always seems to fly by as if in fast forward. I’m grateful that I got to experience this with those that have become my bestest friends in the world – Crystal (Simply Being Mommy), Jennifer (Makobi Scribe) and Kas (Southern Bellas Ways to Save).
We probably spent more time planning what we’ll wear, shopping for accessories, and getting ready to rub elbows with the stars, than the entire event lasts. Oh but its worth it, especially when seeing a new Disney/Pixar/Marvel film with a who’s who list of the hottest celebrities in Hollywood. (I’ll share a secret with you, even some of the stars attending find themselves a little in awe of the celebration, and occasionally they’re also starstruck!)
Accompanied by 24 other incredibly lucky bloggers for this once in a lifetime experience, we did our best to capture quick shots of each other while trying to bask in the 10 second glow of flashing lights, screaming fans and smiling faces.
The Paparazzi and fans are out in full force, lined up on all sides hoping to catch Gwnyneth Paltrow and Robert Downey Jr. from the perfect angle, or score an autograph from their favorite celebrity. We happend to be walking by both Robert Downey Jr. and Cobie Smuthers as they made fans’ years by stopping for autographs and photos.
In true Tony Stark fashion, the gorgeous and debonair Robert Downey Jr., drove onto the red carpet in his cherry red Audi R8 Spyder with his wife. That’s just how Iron Man and Audi roll, VIP style.
Yet, Gwyneth Paltrow stole the show in her stunning ivory Antonio Berardi dress, trimmed in green with sheer side panels, which clearly showed the world why she was chosen People magazine’s “Most Beautiful Woman in the World.”
Marvel’s men were also out in force, as we saw Iron Man’s Big Papa Stan Lee, Don Cheadle, Guy Pearce, Ben Kingsley, Jon Favreau, and Chris Hemsworth (Thor). (The answer is “Yes”, Chris Hemsworth is just as hot in person as he is on the big screen.) And Cobie Smuthers was looking as beautiful as ever in her red dress.
Just before the movie started, the cast appeared on stage outside the theatre for a celebratory “thank you” as it was streamed live via internet for the first time ever so that fans at home could experience what we were able to in person.
As usual, I will never be able to thank Marvel and Disney enough for inviting me to such an exclusive event and allowing us to be in the middle of the glow that we often write about.
