The Radio Disney Project Family “Back to School Drive” is in collaboration with Disney Friends for Change. This is an initiative to inspire kids and their families to make a lasting, positive change by helping people, communities, and the planet.

I did not go to Disney World as a child, but I did start going when I was in my 20′s. I actually went a few years in a row with my mom. She has a love for Disney World herself. Now that I am married and have children, we love taking our children there to have that whole “Disney” experience. We have not gone the past few years, so we can’t wait until the kids get just a bit older to take them back there again.

Our older daughter enjoys listening to Radio Disney; it is a “safe” station that plays all the popular music so I feel confident there won’t be any inappropriate discussions. And, actually Radio Disney does some really remarkable philanthropy at times! I recently found out that Radio Disney will be holding its first annual “Back To School Drive” this morning which will be benefiting the Boys & Girls Club of America. This event is to pull families together to take action and make a difference.

Local Radio Disney stations across the country will be hosting different local events this summer inviting kids and families to donate school supplies to then be providing it to local Clubs. The items they are really in need of are pre-packaged pens, pencils, markers, crayons and chalk. There are 31 different markets Radio Disney is in, so they will be teaming up with Boys & Girls Clubs of America to support their annual nationwide Day for Kids events this September.

It seems there are so many people and children these days who are so ambitious and way too competitive to get ahead, it’s nice to see a program with the emphasis on helping and giving.
