We’ll have to wait until November to see Director Steven Spielberg’s latest historical drama about the 16th President of the United States, Abraham Lincoln, but check out this photo of Daniel Day Lewis. The resemblance is remarkable, uncanny, spot on. If I didn’t know this was Lewis, and was told this was a picture of Lincoln, I wouldn’t be able to tell the difference. Would you?
While, I’m typically not running out of the house to see historical dramas in the theater, this one’s on the top of my list for fall. There’s a few reasons: Daniel Day Lewis has mad talent of transforming himself into the character and based on this photo, he’s going to do it again; Abraham Lincoln was a fascinating President and I’d like to see Spielberg’s perspective; and last but certainly not least, Lewis and Spielberg‘s combined talents are likely to spark Oscar attention!
The talented Daniel Day Lewis, won Academy Awards for his roles in There Will Be Blood and My Left Foot. This will be the first film that Lewis and Spielberg have worked on together.
Spielberg’s film, LINCOLN, is based on the biographical portrait. Team of Rivals: The Political Genius of Abraham Lincoln by Doris Kearns Goodwin. The film is focused on the last four months of the president’s life, starting with the Emancipation Proclamation and the political process that took place to abolish slavery following the Civil War.
So…will there be any vampire hunting in Spielberg’s drama? That would be a big, NO!
“Our movie is really about a working leader who must make tough decisions and get things done in the face of overwhelming opposition,” Spielberg says.
The talented cast includes: Sally Field as Mary Todd Lincoln, Joseph Gordon-Levitt as the Lincoln’s oldest son, Gulliver McGrath as Tad Lincoln, and Tommy Lee Jones as Thaddeus Stevens.
LINCOLN is a DreamWorks, Twentieth Century Fox, Participant Media production opening in limited release November 9, expanding November 16, 2012. ”Like” LINCOLN on Facebook and stay up to date on the latest news.

This sounds good. My history buff boyfriend wants to see it :)
I think my husband would like to see this. I’ll be curious about how they’ll make an entire interesting movie about him (for today’s audience…). :)
Lincoln was a favorite president of mine when I was in school learning about them all. I want to see this!
I’m not much of a history buff either but this could be interesting.
