Well, we are almost through the first month of the new year. Have you abandoned your resolutions yet? Yes? That’s what I thought. While you are probably moving back into a familiar routine and forgetting about all the amazing things you would be doing this year, Kia is busy kicking ass. After an incredible debut of the new 2018 Stinger at the North American International Auto Show last week, Kia is now showing off with the Niro and dubbing it a smarter kind of crossover.

niro 2

Kia has every right to brag about this car, considering it just won a Guinness World Record as the title for lowest fuel consumption on a drive from coast to coast in the United States. It gets up to 50 mpg, and it’s leaving the competition stranded at the pump. This hybrid crossover has a nearly 600 mile range with a high efficiency 1.6L GID engine. Moving beyond the realm of other hybrids, the Niro has a dual clutch transmission that makes the ride more responsive and aggressive for driving that is anything but boring.

This hybrid crossover has amped up more than just its efficiency. The car is wider and longer allowing for a more spacious interior that offers more headroom and legroom for passengers. A variety of technologies make the interior feel like a comfort zone with all the amenities you could need. There is a wireless phone charging station, a premium sound system from Harman/Kardon®, a color touchscreen in 7” or 8” and Apple CarPlay™/Android Auto™. You will also find more convenience with the voice activated technology that helps you keep your hands on the wheel. The My Car Zone™ on the Niro allows you to have more control even when you aren’t the one driving it. This feature allows you to set speed limits, curfews, and even boundaries on where the car can go.

The Niro offers a suite of driver assistance technologies that are on par with this cutting edge hybrid. Smart Cruise Control automatically brakes and accelerates to allow the car to remain a safe distance from the vehicle in front of it. You will receive audible and visual warnings when a hazard is approaching from the Forward Collision Warning. Back out in busy areas with confidence using the Rear Cross Traffic Alert and Blind Spot Detection. Also available are the Park Assist System and Lane Departure Warning System to help keep you and your precious cargo safe.

If you want to see more of the Niro, be sure to watch the Big Game for its debut alongside Hollywood’s favorite funny lady as Kia’s new spokeswoman. This is the 8th consecutive year that Kia has a commercial during the Big Game. With the beginning of a new year, Kia is pulling out all the stops and raising the bar for ingenuity, design, drivability, and even their campaigns. You won’t see them promoting silly commercials with celebrities speaking in riddles or ads trying to sell a “lifestyle”. Kia is about producing vehicles for real people and providing reliable manufacturing that makes every day commuting easier, safer, and even a little more fun. Their new ad for the Niro captures Kia’s true essence, and their new spokeswoman, Melissa McCarthy, is perfect for the job. If you’ve never bought a Kia, she is the one person that might be able to talk you into it. You can catch Melissa and Kia during the third quarter in a 60 second spot that captures a journey from the polar ice caps to the arid desert which showcases why Niro is a smarter kind of crossover. Until the Big Game reveal, you can get a sneak peak below.

Kia is crushing 2017! The Niro is yet another amazing addition to the Kia family and it’s apparent they are creating more than just cars. Kia is creating cars that we need to drive and more importantly that we want to drive. They should be clearing space in their trophy case because this is going to be an epic year.
