Why Do Disney and The Odd Life Of Timothy Green Want Your Socks?

Its a debate our grandparents started and one that may continue with our grand-kids. What am I talking about? Who ate your socks: the washer or the dryer? Of course that leads me to wonder if we knew which appliance was to blame, what are we going to do about it? I have no plans to take the machine apart and save any of the lost socks. That’s way too much work, when I could just go to the store and buy new ones.

I consider myself lucky that the washer or dryer haven’t eaten my favorite pair like they have a lot of the other socks in this house. Although, I think I may have it beat, I’ve started putting all of the kids socks in a lingerie bag when washing and drying them and we seem to have less casualties now.

Disney and The Odd Life of Timothy Green want your new socks (new, not the old stinky ones with holes!) so they can give them to the homeless and others in need! Disney and Hanes have joined forces along with the Association of Gospel Rescue Missions (AGRM), for the The Odd Life of Timothy Green sock drive.

Want to help others in need, well here are the deets. Purchase new children’s, women’s or men’s socks and take them to a community drop-off location anytime between now and September 3, 2012. There will also be donation boxes located at Carmike and Marcus theaters in your city. AGRM will distribute the socks collected to the families they aid throughout the United States.

Don’t keep this good news to yourself, share it with your friends, neighbors and co-workers! Why? Well because it feels good to help those in need and because Hanes is going to match donations up to 10,000 pairs of socks. So have a little friendly competition in the office and see who can donate the most socks so that this winter when the temperatures head south, toes will stay warm and toasty!

The Odd Life of Timothy Green, is the magical tale of one little boy’s sudden appearance and his impact on the life of his parents and those around him. The film opens in theaters everywhere on August 15.
