There are plenty of attractions for the family in Las Vegas. There are theme parks, zoos, an aquarium with mermaids as well as fish, and even a children’s museum (for children rather than of children) but in reality they are not any more special than you would find in any similar location.

Don’t be disheartened. In fact, one of the best things about Las Vegas is that it is situated in the Mojave Desert, which happens to be a particularly exciting place to be. So if you want to have a holiday that you will never forget, hire a car and get out of town.

One of the best places to head for is Death Valley. A few hours away by road, it is well worth the journey. This is one of the World unique areas. It is almost 100 meters below sea level and at Furnace Creek the highest air temperature ever measured on the planet has been recorded.

The Red Rocks of Sedona really are as gorgeous as you think they would be. The scenery looked like it had been painted, the colors were so vibrant. There are also some of the world’s most interesting badlands, and Zabriskie Point has the most stunning erosional landscape you are ever likely to see.

While you’re at it, you might as well check an item off your bucket list because you are not far away from the Grand Canyon. It is another experience that your children will never forget, and much more impressive that any them park thrill ride. If you really want a thrill then take a helicopter ride into its depths.

In the evening, there is nothing to stop you from having some grown-up fun at one of Las Vegas’ famous casinos. Kids aren’t allowed of course, but you can safely leave them in the care of child minding and baby sitting services that are available at most hotels. Make sure that you book those facilities well in advance, as then tend to fill up quickly! Only fully qualified and screened staff are employed for this, so you can relax and play some slots and table games knowing that your children are being taken care of. You can also visit a mobile casino from your room if you do not want to leave the kids with babysitters.
