What do Magic Mike, Batman, Harry Potter, Friends, Ellen, The Big Bang Theory, and True Blood have in common? Warner Brothers! Recently I was able to take the Warner Bros VIP Studio Tour and get a good look at behind the scenes, into the scenes and everything in between of my favorite Warner Bros shows and movies. This isn’t a theme park, its a live working studio with actual production going on all around.
The 2 hour 25 minute tour via carts took us through back lot streets, sound stages, sets and craft shops. Where got a look at just about everything that goes into creating our favorite shows and movies.
Most people would think getting a glimpse behind the scenes would detract from the magic but it really makes it so much more impressive. We were able to walk on to the set of a television show and see the props, costumes and sets. We were able to see how sets were constructed and peruse over 10 million props.
It was shocking to look at the props and sets and realize that they became so much a part of the show I forgot they weren’t “real.” For instance when we came up to Central Perk it was weird to not see Chandler, Monica, Ross and the rest of the crew crowded on and around the couch.
Television and movie sets weren’t the only neat things on display. Car fans will go CRAZY when they visit the Set Car Museum and see icons like The General Lee, Gran Torino and the 1965 Mercedes Benz 280SE from The Hangover.
For all of the “wow” items in the Warner Bros Studio there were also some really unique items too. Warner Bros Museum, Hollywood’s only studio museum, holds a rare collection of costumes, props, sets, scripts and correspondence.
Because you’re touring real sets where actual production is happening all around no 2 tours are alike. The tour guides are all friendly and fun, but if you want a really great experience – you should try and request Bob. He was an absolute riot!
I took a ton of really great pics from the tour – be sure to check them out in the gallery below!
Thank you to Warner Brothers for sending me on the VIP Tour – it was amazing!
