As I planned my Saturday in Orlando it quickly became apparent that it was about to be a long busy day. Family had put in a few gift request and I also had to get some last minute things taken care of before we headed home to Michigan. By my 2:30pm reservation at A Land Remembered I was parched, exhausted and wilting under the 90 degree heat.

While scouring Restaurant.com for some great dining deals I decided to look into by A Land Remembered because something about the title caught my eye. Of course! The name, A Land Remembered, pays homage to the 1984 bestselling novel of the same name by Patrick Smith. If you haven’t read it, it’s a historical fiction novel about Tobias MacIvey and his family who settle in the wilderness of Florida in 1858.

DSC_0491As I arrived at A Land Remembered, it was decorated in very rich textures, which I loved, but I was sad to see that there weren’t more homages to the book. However, it’s menu is clearly a reflection of the many delicacies Florida has to offer with menu items such as Gator Creek Stew, Chateaubriand, Slow Roasted Prime Rib, Lamb Tequesta, Rock Shrimp, and fresh seafood.

DSC_0500While there were numerous indoor seating options I chose to eat on the patio where I was treated to a view of something present day florida is known for, the green. Sitting down to order, the Creek Crab Cakes quickly jumped out at me among the burgers, salads and other various entrees. It was ultimately what I ended up ordering had more than a few crab cakes and I have to say this was the meatiest crab cake I have ever had. There was very little filling and I found myself wondering how it even remained as a cake but it did. The cajun rémoulade drizzled along the top added the perfect kick and I enjoyed the lemon garnish as well.

The breeze, the view and the food made leaps and bounds at restoring my energy level to tackle the rest of my day. If you’re eating on your own, looking for an elegant option for the family or just looking for some great food I recommend A Land Remembered.

This is one of my favorite things about Restaurant.com – not only is it a great way to save money on dining out, but it’s also great resource for trying new restaurants at home and while out traveling in other parts of the country. While it’s easy to fall into the rut of eating fast food while traveling, it really is a shame because it’s not only the sights that a good traveller takes in – it’s the sounds, smells and tastes of each area visited. By using Restaurant.com I can stay on top of my budget and still make sure I immerse myself in the local flavors.

The only thing better than going out for a great meal, is getting a great deal.  Restaurant.com has been filling tables since 1999 and is the destination for dining whether you like to plan ahead or find a meal on the go.  Restaurant.com helps diners discover the perfect dining experience and boasts nearly 50,000 dining deals available every day, even on the weekends!  And, the deals are easy to use – present the certificate to the server on a mobile device, or print out a copy, and voilà – the savings will be deducted from your final bill. Bon Appétit!
