10 All Natural DIY Beauty Treatments

Yogurt and/or Honey

Yogurt contains high amounts of Lactic Acid. Lactic Acid is an AHA successful in refining pores, exfoliating the skin and stimulating collagen production. Unlike other harsh exfoliants (ie. Salicylic Acid) Yogurt is a gentle cleanser and it’s suitable for even sensitive skin. When it comes to all natural diy beauty treatments honey is a super food. Honey is an all natural humectant—it retains water to help keep the skin soft and moisturized. It also acts like an antimicrobial which is why it’s used to treat minor burns and cuts and an anti-irritant. The texture of honey is also great for creating a paste consistency in face mask recipes.

  • Exfoliate Cream
    -Plain Yogurt
    -Cornmeal or grits
Mix ingredients to form a medium past. Rub it over your hands and feet or any area with dry skin.
  • Moisturizing Mask (dry skin)
    – 2 tablespoons plain yogurt (the fattier the better)
    – 1 tablespoon honey
    – 1-2 tablespoons cooked & cooled oatmeal
Mix everything together until it forms a smooth paste. Spread over the face and leave on for 10-15 minutes. Wash off with a warm washcloth.
  • Calming Mask (irritated skin)
    – ½ cup of plain yogurt
    – 2 tablespoons Aloe Vera gel or juice
    – 1 tablespoon honey
    – ½ peeled cucumber
    – A few drops of chamomile oil
Mix everything in a blender. Leave on face for 10-15 minutes.
  • Gentle Facial Cleanser
    -1/2 cup oatmeal or cornmeal
-Plain yogurt (add enough yogurt to form a paste)
This combination creates a gentle facial cleanser. Just mix ingredients, smooth over entire face(avoiding your eyes). Wash off with warm water.

Lemons

Lemon juice is a major ingredient in many hair recipes, including a hair rinse for all hair types, as well as the perfect astringent for oily or combination skin. It can also help you avoid the potential problems from chemical exposure to commercial whitening kits, strips, gels, and systems.

  • Degrease Oily Hair
    -1 tablespoon of lemon juice
    -1/2 teaspoon aloe vera.
Mix the mixture in with a normal serving of shampoo.
  • Whiten Teeth
-A solution of 75 percent lemon juice and 25 percent salt.
Swish in your mouth. Do not swallow. If you have sensitive teeth this may not be for you.
  •  Lemon and Egg Facial
    -1 Egg Yolk
    -Juice of 1 Lemon
Mix together in a paste. Cover your face and leave it overnight or, at minimum, 1 hour. This mixture will reduce and soothe red splotches. Thanks, Inspiring Pretty.

Mayonnaise/Olive Oil

Mayonnaise does double duty as a fantastic deep conditioner for any hair type. It’s also as the closest thing to a natural facial peel one can find: the acids in it slough away dead skin, while the egg protein and milk fats restore health.

  •  Deep Conditioner
-1 small jar of real mayonnaise
-1/2 of an avocadoMix together in a bowl with your hands until it’s a light minty green in color. Massage into hair from root to tips. Wrap your head in a hot, damp towel and let set for 20 minutes. Be sure to use this one while it’s fresh.
  • Olive Oil as Hair Moisturizer
It’s easy to see how oil can moisturize your hair. Just cover your hair in olive oil and leave it in for 30-45 minutes. Wrap it in plastic wrap to keep it from dripping. Thanks, Inspiring Pretty.
