WDW City Hall - Halloween

A big thank you to Walt Disney World for allowing the Surf and Sunshine family to experience this magical adventure for the purpose of sharing it with our readers.

I’ve been to Walt Disney World a total of two times in my life, the second being this September, on the Surf and Sunshine family retreat. Jeana and I brought along our toddlers, and this was to be Maddilyn’s first visit. I could. not. wait. Disney is always a magical place but it transforms for Halloween. I was mesmerized by the detail and creativity. After spending the day at Magic Kingdom knocking out the rides and shows, we ran home to get the kids changed into their costumes. We had one dashing Iron Man and a very delicate Princess Tiana.

By the time we returned to Walt Disney World for Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party, the Magic Kingdom had been completely transformed. As we entered the park we were overwhelmed with magical sightings – like two not-so-evil step sisters and their step mother.

Maddilyn squealed in delight as her favorite characters walked by waving, posing for photographs and yes, handing out candy!

Did you know that Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party is the only time of year Villain’s hang out in the park? It’s also the only time of year guests are allowed/encouraged to come in costume!

After the parade commenced, the princesses, pirates and ghouls dispersed to Frontierland and Tomorrowland for some Trick or Treating. Our pathway was lit with glowing Mickey orbs to signal candy hand out stations.

But the sweetest treats actually weren’t sugary at all. Hidden in among the rides and the candy were the most magical moments of the evening – Character meet and greets. My daughter had been counting down the days until she could meet a princess. You can imagine our delight when we happened upon Terrance and Tinker Bell at Tink’s Magical Nook.

After winding our way through Tomorrowland collecting copious amounts of treats, we ended our night visiting an Arabian Princess. My heart melted as Maddilyn whispered in my ear “Mommy, can I hug Princess Jasmine?”

And Whistler got yet another kiss from a beautiful princess.

Our evening was full of sweet, magical delight – memories to last a lifetime for everyone in the family. Both toddlers fell asleep contentedly clutching a bagful of candy, as we walked away from one of the happiest places on earth.
