Do you know what’s in your baby wipes?

It was just over 6 weeks ago that I found out our family would be growing from three to four. The initial excitement has since given way to a sense of urgency to prepare. If there was one thing I learned from my first pregnancy, it’s that the 40 weeks fly by all too weekly. From the moment we began trying to conceive, protecting our soon-to-be child was of upmost importance, from avoiding alcohol to taking my pre-natal vitamins and watching what I ate. Things only intensify once the baby is born. I remember the first time it dawned on me that my daughter was no longer safely wrapped in the protective bubble of my womb, the thought literally stopped me in my tracks with an all encompassing fear. It seems silly now, obviously once born, the baby would no longer have that protective bubble and yet it was terrifying to think about. But that’s the parent life, right?

Though admittedly after a time I found myself lulled into a sense of security by labels. How often do we see something that says “organic,” “natural,” or “pure” and just assume that the product is safest option for baby? I can think of countless times I reached for those labels without doing an iota of research beforehand. So it really surprised me when I learned about WaterWipes. They claim to be “the world’s purest baby wipes” and after reading the ingredients, I have to agree. There are only two: 99.9% pure Irish water and 0.1% grapefruit seed extract.

Wipes have been the one product I’ve used long after my daughter was out of diapers. In fact, I still keep them around and she just celebrated her 5th birthday. They’re super convenient in the car and in our day pack when we’re on the go. But admittedly, I even use them everyday around the house since my five year old tends to be a messy eater.

At first, I was a bit dubious of wipes containing 99.9% water. How well would they clean? Today I put them to the test against some pizza sauce, both fresh and stuck on. To my surprise, it only took two swipes to get the sauce off which made both mother and daughter happy. Kids never get any happier about having their faces washed, do they? I’ll definitely be keeping these in mind for when our new baby is born. Waterwipes
