One of my favorite parts of my job is the ability to drive brand new cars. I love everything about a new cars. They have all the latest technology, they're super fuel efficient, and they make me want to hit the open road. Most of all they make me want to upgrade. I'm currently driving a 2003 VW Jetta and while it's no clunker compared to these tech infused new model vehicles it can sure feel like one.  I mean a few of the newer model cars I've driven actually come with apps that allow your car to practically communicate with you!

While we have been talking about getting a newer and bigger vehicle it's a slow processes. Until then I'm looking forward to giving my old car a technology facelift with Zubie. Zubie is this genius little key that monitor your vehicles, diagnose repair problems and generally takes the hassle out of daily driving. It's an easy to install device that helps take the guess work out of owning a car. Thanks to a handy app it reports timely information about my car’s health, and alerts me to potential problems.

Owning a car can be a great investment but repair bills can be a total nightmare. The last time my car broke down it spent 5 days in the shop and cost over $600 to fix! It would have been great to know that trouble was brewing long before I broke down on the side of the road. Not only can it totally decode the foreign language that are Check Engine Lights and Problem Codes. By doing so you know how serious a problem might be, and receive an estimate of likely repair costs before your stranded at a repair shop.

In addition to saving money in potential repairs the Zubie has some other neat features I can't wait to try out when I receive one to review. Zubie has the ability to monitor driving behavior. Aside from solving the age old question of who the better driver is (me) it can help manage our driving habits to improve fuel economy and preserve value – an  important concept as we're looking to upgrade in the near future.

  1. I like that it tells you the cost of repairs. I know it’s something a lot of women have trouble with because you just don’t know if a mechanic is trying to pull a fast one on you sometimes. This is really great. Although my husband is a mechanic so he might not like it too much but he is away a lot. So it might be good for us, especially in case of an emergency.

  2. This sounds like something perfect for a chick like me who knows nothing about the internal workings of a car. Pretty cool! I’ll have to check this out!

  3. Wow, the Zubie sounds like an excellent investment. While we just purchased a new car that tells us everything, I find we still have to guess what is going on with our 2004 Ford. It so expensive to find out that you needed to tend to something minor that turned into a major repair due to neglect.

As a side note, it’s not a good idea to ignore a check engine light just because ” it’s been on for ages” grrr!
