When Mommy Deserves Dessert and A Night To Herself
It doesn’t happen very often but occasionally the stars align and mommy gets a night to herself. Even though I end up spending the majority of the night working and cleaning the house I always try to reserve some “me” time before I pass out early. It isn’t very often that I can actually watch everything I record during the week. I don’t remember the last time I got to read a book. Heck, I don’t even remember the last time I got to pee by myself. I’m sure it was before my daughter was born. Speaking of which, does anyone else feel like getting to eat a meal while it was still warm went out the window about that same time? Sometimes I don’t even get to eat a meal after it’s been warmed the first or second time. So these are the things I try to do , not necessarily in that order, on nights I have all to myself.
I didn’t get the evening to myself until after dinner tonight. Dinner was a fiasco. Maddilyn ended up “helping” make the mashed potatoes. By the time I got her cleaned up from licking the spoons it was time to eat. In the time it took me to make my plate she had already spilled her chocolate milk. Down her shirt and on the floor. Reheat number 1. No sooner had I cleaned that up then she dripped mashed potatoes down her shirt and on the table. I got up to wipe away the mess and came back to find she had placed her puppy on the table and not only did he clean up her hands, he also licked up the table and had started in on her plate. Reheat number 2. Finally, after that fiasco I was able to eat. After a bath and packing Maddilyn off to her grandparents I was able to sit and have mommies night in.
Since I had already ate dinner I thought I definitely deserved some dessert while I started rereading one of my favorite books, Ruby. Graeter’s had sent me 3 containers of ice cream including their newest flavor. Does anything make a trying evening better than Ice Cream? Sure, I’m supposed to be on a diet but I deserved it right? Plus, who could turn down an uninterrupted bowl of ice cream that was churned in a French Pot, two gallons at a time, and hand-packed by the pint. I couldn’t decide between Graeter’s Black Cherry Chocolate, Black Rasberry Chip, or Vanilla so I had all three! They were all so delicious and packed with huge chunks of flavor.
I might have ate the entire pint of Black Rasberry Chip. But my husbands favorite was the Black Cherry Chocolate Chip, Graeter’s first flavor in 3 years. Like all of their ice cream it’s all natural and made with heavy cream, pure cane sugar and loaded with fresh berries. I had never had Graeter’s Ice Cream before but its my new “mommies night in staple.”
