Located next to the famous Chinese Theatre on the Hollywood Walk of Fame sits Madame Tussauds Wax Museum. If you’ve never been, Madame Tussauds is the perfect place to get up close and personal with your favorite celebrities without the hassle of the arrest and restraining order that usually ensues.
From the red carpet entrance to an interview with Joann Rivers, Madame Tussauds sets the scene for a star studded tour immediately. This was a great way to wind down a whirlwind 3 day press trip for Iron Man 3. Of course, we were all super excited to get up close and personal with THE (wax figure of) Tony Stark and Iron Man!
And we definitely had some fun along the way. Throw 5 really great friends, yet exhausted friends together in a wax museum and well, you get a bunch of really silly, it was funnier at the time time photos.
As you can see, we took the opportunity to get the perfect photo op, not just the standard “stand close but not too close and smile.”
What I find just as interesting as the contents inside the museum, is the history of Madame Tussauds. Did you know that Madame Tussaud was an art tutor for King Louis XVI’s sister at the Palace of Versailles at the age of 17?! During the French Revolution she was forced to prove her allegiance to nobles by making death masks of executed aristocrats. Ew. Finally in 1835, Madame Tussauds’ exhibition established a permanent base in London as the Baker Street Bazaar. Visitors paid ‘sixpence’ for the chance to meet the biggest names of the day. The attraction moved to its present site in Marylebone Road come 1884. Since opening over 200 years ago, the London location of Madame Tussauds has seen millions of guest come through the doors. Now Madame Tussauds has 15 locations, spanning countries and continents across the globe.
This was my first time visiting this attraction and we easily could have stayed a lot longer than we did. We had a blast taking photos and we definitely weren’t the only ones.
