Lately my mini me and I have been at odds. If I say no, she says “yes”; if I make it – she won’t eat it; if I say “please” – she says “no thanks.” Starting to get the picture? A lot of it has to do with the fact that she is trying to be more independent and some of has to do with her teething. Thus, I have been working extremely hard to have one magic moment throughout the day. Whether it’s finger painting together or dancing around the living room.
It’s in these moments that we reconnect and grudges from the day are forgotten. These are the moments I want to commit to memory, where I take too many pictures because I never want to forget. Our magic moment today wasn’t planned. While playing dress up Maddilyn requested Snow Cones. It was just before dinner and the mom in me wanted to say no but seeing the opportunity for fun and bonding I decided that sometimes rules just need to be broken.
She snuck into the ice and somehow didn’t think I would notice!
So many times it is easy to forget the importance of play, to get caught up in the hustle and bustle of life. I’m not a perfect mother but I know I can keep finding ways to connect with her, creating the special moments that turn into memories. Hopefully, one day she will be doing something similar with her child and she will smile for the memory.
Thank you Disney for aiding in the creation of this magic moment. I was not obligated to write this and all opinions and events are our own.
