5 Untraditional but Sure Signs that Spring is Here

The snow is melting, the birds are chirping and the days are longer. Spring is finally upon us, and after a long, long winter, we couldn’t be happier. They say it’s time for April showers, but I don’t think my kids got the memo. Lately, they seem to be coming in the house at the end of the day grimier than ever. I blame the beautiful weather we’ve been experiencing lately coupled with the fact that my kiddo recently learned to ride her bike all on her own.blossom 1324088 1920

Secretly, I don’t mind the dirt so much because it’s usually accompanied by ear to ear smiles and the end-of-day weariness that only comes from a day well spent in the sunshine. I also happen to love the smell of sunshine and ocean breeze mingled with dirt that they carry in on their hair and skin. I love it almost as much as fresh out of the bath smell – something we’ve been doing a lot of lately to prevent that dirt from tracking throughout the house. It was after yet another long day of bike riding followed by an evening bath that had me thinking about all of the nontraditional signs that spring is here.

The Weather Doesn’t Know What It’s Doing

It’s the time of year when your weather app is on stand by. One day it’s chilly and the next it’s mildly warm in the morning but blazing hot by afternoon.  Didn’t winter get the memo that spring arrived on March 20th?

Goodbye Cold & Flu, Hello Allergies

We no more get the chance to kick cold & flu season to the curb and we’re hit with allergy season. On the plus side, all of that pollen and rain must mean we’re gearing up for May flowers right? Right?!

Swim Suits are on the Racks

I don’t know about you but I take winter hibernation very seriously. Like any midwesterner worth their salt this involves a lot of sweat pants and becoming a little lax on their summer diet. Which means swim suits on the racks is both a welcome sign of spring and rude awakening that winter is over. Can’t we all agree to take a couple of months to ease us into the idea of summer swimsuits?

We Switch from Hot Drinks to Cold

From hot coffee to iced coffee and english tea to ice tea everyone is switching their beverage of choice from one that will warm them up to one that will cool them down.

Holiday Scents Have Finally Disappeared

2017 04 05 09.34.33Long gone are scents like Holiday Pear, Toasted Vanilla or Peppermint Bliss. Candles, air fresheners, body sprays and personal care products are swapped out for fresher springtime scents. A walk through the personal care aisle at my local Albertson’s showcases Suave products in scents like Ocean Breeze body wash and Coconut Oil Infusion shampoo and conditioner. Personally, I enjoy switching up my scents with the seasons but the biggest challenge is choosing which new products work for the new climate.

Guys are so lucky with their no brainer options like Suave Men 2-in-1 shampoo and conditioner and I’m pretty sure kids love anything with the label “purely fun” like Suave Kids Purely Fun 3-in-1 shampoo, conditioner and body wash. For us women though, things are a little tougher. Our hair tends to run on the finicky side and we have infinitely more personal care products. What would we do without fun beauty quizzes to pass the time and help us figure out the right products for us?

Right now you can save $4 when you buy 2 participating Suave products! Take the online quiz and let me know which products you’ll be purchasing for your family with #SuaveAprilShowers?

  1. Yeah, I totally agree. Plus you start seeing bright colors, from bags to clothes, it’s everywhere. Also, people are preparing for Easter as well. Pastels are so common.

  2. Yay for spring! As much as I love the holiday scents, I just can’t wait to get into spring mode! I have to check out those Suave products. I always tend to choose products with coconut oil because they do help with dryness.
