Color Wow: New Way To Extend In-Between Colorings

Dying your hair can be a significant time and financial commitment, but it can also be a fun way to maintain or change your look throughout the seasons. Whether lightening hair to blonde, darkening for additional warmth, or covering up unwanted grays, an average of 75% of women color their hair either at home or at the salon to obtain luscious locks and beautiful coverage. Of course, even when permanent dye is applied, hair color is always just temporary thanks to regrowth that begins showing much too quickly and can distract from the otherwise gorgeous coloring. While there’s no way to stop regrowth (and that’s not a bad thing), there’s a new way to prolong the time within touch ups without any of your natural root’s color showing. Behold, Color Wow’s Root Cover Up.

Created by Gail Federici whose previous successes include John Frieda’s range of hair products, his latest endeavor with Color Wow utilizes breakthrough mineral powder technology to camouflage roots instantly, without any drying time, and can be completed within a minute.

Tucked into a sleek compact, Color Wow’s Root Cover Up comes in a variety of shades and includes a mirror, their professional cover up powder, and a dual-tipped brush to help disguise roots quickly and effectively. Simply adding a small amount of powder to the scalp and working outwards makes roots disappear due to a variety of pigments and reflective particles that ensure’s a natural match that stays in place from shampoo to shampoo.

Color Wow Root Touch Up

For blondes, Root Cover Up is the only way to “lighten” regrowth without peroxide allowing hair to grow out healthier, and works equally as well for those with naturally darker hair that want to achieve light or medium brown results. As a naturally dirty blonde myself, Root Cover Up allowed me to “lighten” my natural roots to match the shade of my hair dye in a way that I’ve never been able to achieve before without a dye touch up. Using either the small or large end of the brush allows you to decide the amount of coverage you want, ranging from added highlights to all-over color that only takes one application to fulfill. For myself, it took a little over a minute using the large end of the brush to create full root camouflage that I find is hard to notice unless actively looking for it.  Suggested as having enough powder in each container for 60 applications, each Color Wow Root Cover Up can extend the time between hair appointments by an average of two months or longer. I’ve personally been using my Root Cover Up for about ten applications, and am barely making a dent in my powder as seen from the images, so I expect to get closer to three or four months of usage out of my powder, but results certainly vary.

Beyond Root Cover Up, Color Wow also offers additional hair hero’s such as their color security shampoo and conditioners, brass banned mousses, and One Minute Transformation styling cream that I’ve become hooked on, that all help give dyed hair some love that extends beyond just the roots. Using less than a quarter-sized amount, their One Minute Transformation hydrates hair, that provides a healthy-looking shine which lasts all day and replaces natural oils that are lost during chemical treatments, blow-drying and daily stress. Following the name, One Minute Transformation genuinely is an instant miracle styling cream that works wonders.

In trying out Color Wow products myself, I’m truly hooked on everything this brand offers and I’m not alone. Not only do their products frequently run out of stock due to high demand, but the buzz around Color Wow is extensive. They recently took the title of Allure’s ‘Best of Beauty’ product, captured the hearts of beauty experts across multiple publications including Marie Claire and won ‘Best Hair Innovation’ for Harper’s Bazaar. The best part about the awards Color Wow is given, is how equally rewarding the brand is of their acknowledgements. Their products truly are groundbreaking.

Thanks to Color Wow, women and men alike can now be prepared to “wow” with perfect hair color 365 days a year, leaving unblended roots a thing of the past! And for that, we say hallelujah!

  1. You could definitely see your skills within the paintings you write. The world hopes for even more passionate writers like you who are not afraid to say how they believe. At all times go after your heart.

  2. Very cool. I could definitely use a touch up product in between colorings. I get too lazy and go too long in between. Perils of being too cheap to go to a salon. haha

  5. That is very cool. I have dark blonde hair that I color all different colors. As I color it just keeps getting darker so this is great when I want to color it lighter.

  6. I died my hair myself for the first time a few months ago. I used to have it done at the salon but it can be so expensive. Now I would rather save the money and experiment myself.

  13. OH, I love that idea! The sun lightens my hair and makes my roots look dark – this would be a great way to take care of that without having to deal with all of the mess!

  14. WOW! That is truly amazing. I have never seen anything like this and had no idea that there was something out there for root touch ups. I almost wish my hair was blonde again so I could test this out myself. My mom would LOVE something like this. She has very light hair and her roots grow super fast.

  17. Oh how I LOVE this. What an awesome product. My roots are a good inch or more long now & I hate the way it looks. Thankfully I am getting it taken care of on Tuesday next week! Phew.
