Puffy Eyes Be Gone!

They say the eyes are windows to our souls… my soul must be older than my body! Whether it’s from the sleepless nights or constant allergies I think one of our first body parts to show symptoms of “getting older” (besides my creaking bones and aching back) are our eyes.

But considering our eyes experience 10,000 movements a day it’s no wonder they’re one of the first body parts to see age. Then you factor in other problems like environmental irritants, food allergies, UV damage and you can practically see the crows feet start to appear.

Did you know… The skin around the eye is only about the thickness of 5 sheets of copier paper!

Different women experience all sorts of troublesome eye issues like fine lines, wrinkles, puffiness, dark circles, bags and translucency. The last I checked, none of those were sexy even if they’re practically a badge of motherhood. The problem is there are so many factors influencing the way our skin ages. From the external like environmental to the natural effects of aging such as slowed collagen production and reduced elasticity. Although we can’t live in a bubble, and we haven’t isolated the DNA for Benjamin Button, we do have great beauty companies like Dermalogica.

dermalogica ultrasmoothing eye serum

A couple months ago Dermalogica launched their new UltraSmoothing Eye Serum (SRP $50) and were kind enough to send me a bottle to try for myself. It’s designed to combat the effects of aging while also protecting eyes from further damage. It claims to reduce fine lines, wrinkles, dehydration, loss of elasticity and more. The UltraSmoothing Eye Serum is Dermalogica’s solution for aging and sensitive skin. Formulated with Dermalogica’s trademarked UltraCalming Complex that interrupts triggers before they cause sensitivity.

These days what you’re putting on your body is just as important as how well it works.

Since having Whistler, my skin has gotten crazy sensitive and Dermalogica products have consistently been ones that I can trust using without fear of rashes, hives or breakouts so easily caused by just *looking* at some other beauty products. What I immediately like about the product is that it’s a liquid serum and not a lotion or cream. At first this was a little strange to me because I have only ever used eye creams in the past, but it’s pretty amazing how quickly it absorbs into your skin! It has a nice herbal scent and you will immediately *feel* it working. This is one of the only products I have ever used that has made the area under my eyes FEEL tighter and it’s a huge confidence booster. I didn’t start to notice a visual difference until about week 3 or 4, but now that it has been several months, I can definitely see the difference when looking at older photographs.

My mom (who is EXTREMELY picky about what beauty products she uses and has been known to spend $200+ on serums) actually noticed the difference and when I gave it to her to try, it mysteriously disappeared from my bathroom that same day. After searching for days, I finally gave up and bought another bottle (yes, this has a permanent place in my makeup regimen!). Of course the next time I visited my parent’s house, I made it a point to look for it. And what do you know, there it stood amongst the super high end brand name anti-aging potion collection amassed on my mother’s beauty dresser…right up front meaning that she uses it daily too.

Thank you to Dermalogica for providing me my mom with a product sample to facilitate this review. All opinions remain my own.

  2. I could have used this last week. I cried for like 4 days straight and my eyelids were humungous. So embarrassing. I just tried to cover it with really dark makeup
