Easter Outfits for Kids that They’ll Actually Want to Wear Again and Again

At almost-nine and three, my kids are at a challenging age to dress. My mother always said I’d get a daughter just like me – and she wasn’t wrong. The eight-year-old has decided that she won’t wear anything with the color pink on it, and you can basically forget about tulle or ribbons. This is pretty heartbreaking when you consider that all the adorable Easter dresses are basically made from all things pink, tulle and ribbon.

My three year old hasn’t gotten to the age where he hates anything yet but he definitely has a strong preference for wearing clothing with dinosaurs and helicopters.

When it came time for their Easter outfits, I went to visit one of my favorite children’s stores, Carter’s. They carry everything from newborn to size 14, so it’s nice that I can knock out both kids wardrobe in a single store. With our busy schedule, it’s a huge time saver having such a great variety all in one place. Plus, they carry clothes my kids actually love – yes, even Maddilyn, who found a favorite kid’s Easter outfit (that even had pink on it).

My only goal for our shopping trip was to find a few kids’ Easter outfit options that were appropriately “dressy” for Easter Dinner but that I wouldn’t have to talk my kids into wearing. I want them to have their own sense of style and to wear clothing that makes them feel good. We were in and out of the store within 30 minutes, and of course, ended up getting way more than just a couple of Easter outfits.

It’s gorgeous, silky soft, and exactly the type of dress she’s drawn to. Definitely something she would wear again and again any day throughout the summer, plus, we can dress it up when needed with sandals and a sun hat or headband.

It was adorable and I knew she had a great jean jacket and flats to match it at home. So it wound up in our basket, along with more jean shorts for summer time and few of their doorbuster tops too.

Now that Maddilyn was set, it was Oliver’s turn to help me select his Easter outfit. He is way easier to shop for than my daughter, and likes to dress on the preppy side (like his dad). He immediately fell in love with Sailboat Oxford Button-Front Shirt. It is covered in adorable embroidered boats, anchors and whales. His dad is in the Navy, so it checked all the boxes of things we’re drawn too. We grabbed a pair of casual but smart Flat-Front Shorts in Easter-y mint to round out the outfit.

With the awesome Spring Sale going on right now, I wanted to take advantage of the great pricing and get him a more casual Easter outfit too. At three years old, we all know that a white dress shirt is going to end up with something on it before Easter dinner is over. So I got him a second outfit with a Striped Piqué Polo and Schiffli Flat-Front Shorts. I very intentionally chose four items for his outfit that can easily be mixed and matched, which is something we’ve always loved about shopping at Carter’s over the years. I feel like this helps “fill” a kids wardrobe with fewer pieces and gives me more options if he happens to stain something throughout the day.

I’d say our spring clothing shopping trip was a success! Any of these kids’ Easter outfits can be dressed up, or down, depending on the day, and they’re clothes I know my kids will wear again and again – no matter what the occasion. In fact, they already have! So much so, that I may need to get the floral tank dress and sailboat oxford in a few future sizes too.

The Carter’s Sweet Spring Sale is going on right now. You can save up to 70% off select Spring styles from 4/3 – 4/8/18.
