Perhaps the hardest part of moving 1200 miles from the area I grew up in was leaving my family behind. Although I have been fortunate enough to make it back home often in the six months since I moved away, it simply isn’t the same. My family has always been incredibly close, cousins are as close as siblings and parents operate under the philosophy that it takes a village.
We enjoy dinners at my parent’s house every Sunday and informal gatherings at my Grandmother’s house at least once a month. Due to our large size, these family nights almost always happen in someone’s home – a sort of family night in – and our gatherings are always centered around food, namely, dinner time.
A favorite with everyone? Pizza night! Recently we had the opportunity to try the new DIGIORNO Pizzeria!™ Thin during an impromptu get together. None of us had tried the pizzas before, but they were quick, easy and the ingredients had piqued our curiosity.
The four new varieties include:
- Supreme Speciale: Topped with caramelized onions, red & green peppers, premium pepperoni, Italian sausage
- Primo Pepperoni: Topped with premium pepperoni
- Margherita (unique to Thin): Topped with diced roma tomatoes, basil, and mozzarella, parmesan, romano and asiago cheeses
- Spinach & Mushroom (unique to Thin): Topped with spinach, garlic, mushrooms
Not your ordinary round pizza pie, these pizzas start with a preservative-free crust that has been drizzled in olive oil and have a unique square shape. Then it’s topped with a specially-crafted sauce made from scratch using vine-ripened tomatoes, basil, thyme and oregano. Can you say yum? Honestly, I love the new sauce. Its light and offers a burst of flavor. Then the pizzas are topped with 100% real cheese, premium meats, veggies and no artificial flavors.

While our family enjoyed all four of the new varieties, my husband is a “meat and potatoes” kind of guy so his favorite was the more traditional Primo Pepperoni. The rest of us seemed to enjoy the Margherita pizza the most – even the younger members! It’s a simple, light and refreshing combination of delicious ingredients.

I love their thin pizzas! I just had a pepperoni one for lunch. So easy to serve!
The title of this post is amazing! That really DOES NOT look like a frozen pizza!
We recently tried this pizza too and loved it. I would most certainly buy it again and try the other flavors.
Mmmm. That looks yummy! Now I’m hungry for pizza!
DiGiorno really does have some great pizza. I need to try the Margherita variety. It sounds like something I would enjoy.
