With advances in technology, come ever expanding fields in science. Job outlooks in the science field over the next 20 years look phenomenal. Establishing a lifelong love of science begins in the classroom, namely science fair projects. But more than developing a passion for the field science fair projects are great for students to learn long-range planning, do research, practice data collection, and meet deadlines. Check out this fun Light Bulb Science Experiment created for Kelly at KLS Crafts. She joined forces with Netflix to create a science project that shines some light on your family bonding.
The project itself is very simple, requiring only Four D batteries, Wire, Duct tape and Miniature light bulb. It’s as simple as placing the wire on the bottom of one D battery. Hold the light bulb on the top of the battery. Touch the opposite end of the wire to the light bulb and watch it glow. Stack batteries together with duct tape to create a brighter glow.
Who knew a science project could be so effortless and still shine a light on science. But all puns aside, before you Google “easy science projects for kids,” Netflix has a variety of TV shows and movies that might help jump start your kids’ imaginations and get the whole family excited about a winning science fair idea.
Personally, my preschoolers loves following the adventures of Ms. Frizzle and her class in The Magic School Bus. We have watched numerous episodes together and I’m always amazed at the vocabulary and concepts she picks up after each episode. But, they also have some great titles for older kids too!
