First, there was the man cave. A place where a guy can escape from the world.

Until now, the only comparable thing women had were oversized powder rooms, walk-in closets, or perhaps a craft room. Until now.

Meet the “She Shed.”

What exactly is a She Shed?

Never heard of a She Shed?  It’s a backyard haven for women.

Every woman deserves a shed of her own. Whether it’s a whimsical glass she shed or a simple small she shed — somewhere to retreat for some peace and quiet, to create, write, paint or just enjoy the view.

What is the purpose of a She Shed?

The most common purpose of a she shed is to have somewhere that creates a peaceful atmosphere. Some women swear by soft, muted or pastel colors and super comfy furniture is a must.

She sheds were initially a place to decompress and relax without reality barging in. And by reality, I mean children or husbands.

Somewhere you could grab a good book and enjoy all the girly things – beautiful flowers, fluffy pillows and lavender scents.

Or in my case, mine would be filled with beautiful tropical plants, a comfortable squishy couch, a TV and a wine fridge. I could watch all the chick flicks I want – alone, or even better with a girlfriend.

The beach is my happy place and I’m always looking for ways to bring it in. Coastal Home nailed it with their design, I love the way the walls open up to make the most of the ocean views.

  1. I totally want a she-shed, I’d have a juicer and a tv with all of my favorite girly movies, a nice wi-fi router, and of course my laptop and tablet! All with plush, pink decor!!!

  2. I love the architecture and the designs! How I wish i have a big yard to fit one of those. I always longed for a small thinking nook to collect my thoughts instead of going to a nearby coffee shop.

  3. I’m so envious of these she sheds because I don’t have my own frog space indoors. I’d take my laptop out to my she shed and work in a relaxing atmosphere. So chic and cute.
