As women we’re always looking for tips to get more youthful looking skin, aren’t we? From foods to eat, to products to apply, there are many suggestions floating around the web but these are 5 of our favorites because they’re simple but effective.

Sleep on Silk or Satin

We all know sleep plays a major role in keeping our skin and body healthy. But when it comes to our face and achieving more youthful skin, what we sleep on is just as important as how much we get. Sleeping on silk or satin is much better for your skin than cotton. The satin allows your face to slide against the pillowcase and helps avoid sleep lines. It’s even better if you sleep on your back because not only does satin help your skin, it’s also recommended for your hair.

Eat and Drink Your Way To Younger Skin

One of the easiest ways to get more youthful skin is with plenty of water because hydrated skin appears more supple and healthy. Foods rich in antioxidants are another great way to get more youthful skin. Who doesn’t love eating their way to healthy? Anti-aging foods like beans, fish, berries, spinach, nuts and kale are tasty ways to add variety to your diet and help out your skin.

Don’t Forget Your Neck and Hands

Even if we’re doing our best to take care of our face, we often forget that our skin and hands are also susceptible to the same stressors. So don’t forget them when you’re exfoliating and moisturizing.

Keep Your Pores Clean

As our pores become clogged with makeup, oil and other chemicals they swell. Eventually this swelling takes it’s toll. Exfoliating weekly and cleaning our pores helps keep them from literally stretching out.

At Home Treatments

Products like the DermaWand use thermal energy, oxygenation and massage to get more youthful looking skin by cleansing, reducing pore size, and evening out skin tone. Created by Christina Boves, a licensed aesthetician who understands the rejuvenating power of Radio Frequency Treatments, the combination of radio frequency effects of thermal energy and instant massaging stimulation helps the skin appear more toned and tightened, smoothing out the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. The claim is that as it oxygenates, the wand cleanses and purifies, reducing pore size while breathing new life into your skin’s surface. Plus, at 168,000 cycles per second, it is supposed to help the skin appear more toned and tightened.

Dermawand Review

I’ve been using DermaWand for the past 3 weeks and saw improvement in the wrinkles on my forehead. Sadly, I didn’t see improvement in my puffy under eye bags (wah!), but I’m fairly certain that is this due to location and sensitivity since the wand does do some light “zapping”. It is easy to ignore on the forehead area, but I wasn’t as vigilant at using it on my sensitive under eye area. While it is suggested to do two 3 minute sessions per day, I found that I was having to spend upwards of 30 minutes per session to get through all the suggested strokes.

Also, if you find your skin gets red or slightly bumpy immediately after use, don’t fret. This happened to me and it was all clear about an hour later. [/infobox]

  1. I knew satin and silk were good to sleep on for hair, but I had no idea it was good for skin, too. I think we might need some new pillowcases, lol.
