I love what I do. As a writer and photographer, I love sharing parenting, technology, and travel with the world. I love capturing moments for a family that they can cherish forever. But there is a very unglamorous side to my work. It’s long hours spent at a computer screen composing sentences, editing photos and contacting clients. Sometimes the work can even be repetitive and mindless, which is when I find myself doing a lot of snacking while I work. It’s easy for that snacking to become a problem for my health and my waistline, especially when I start reaching for all the wrong foods like sugary sodas and salty potato ships. 

In an effort to keep myself in check, I’ve become more mindful of the items I reach for, swapping items for healthier snack ideas. During a shopping trip to one of my favorite grocers, Publix, I mindfully added healthy snack foods like almonds and fresh fruit. I also picked up Weight Watchers Light String Cheese and Healthy Pop Butter 100 Calorie Bags. It’s not the act of snacking that poses a problem, it’s the foods that we reach for. Those crispy, salty flavorful potato chips are delicious. But there are healthier alternatives that are just as delicious and still satisfy that craving I get for something crunchy.
