Our cars are more than just transportation…they are an extension of ourselves and the lives we lead. Our car is our oasis, it is our escape, it is our freedom. From the moment we are handed a license, we are given a unique sense of liberation, and we feel a personal bond to our cars. We all seek something in this world, in our lifetime, and our natural instincts to explore lead us to the open road. The 2017 Kia Sportage is designed to conquer any kind of new adventure we may seek no matter the terrain.

The 2017 Kia Sportage is the fourth generation of the longest running nameplate for Kia Motors America, and it’s all new design combines sleek with sporty. Drawing on inspiration from architecture and fashion, graceful curves clothe the athletic frame giving the classic Kia features a facelift of sorts with artfully cut detailing. Available in three trims the LX, EX, and SX Turbo, the all new Sportage combines luxury details with maneuverability and state of the art safety features.

Signature elements are re-crafted for an updated look and functionality. Headlight placement is slightly higher and curved back towards the body with the creative “ice cube” LED fog lamps available on the SX Turbo model. With a higher headlight placement the lower half of the face is wider and lower giving the Sportage a more distinct look with better engine cooling. The triangular stance creates sturdy but exceptional drivability with an athletic feel. The LX and EX offer carefully placed chrome trim which accentuates the sharp detailing bringing together the strong features to create its own style.

The license plate has been moved to the tailgate which has allowed for a lowered loading zone making it easier to fill the extended cargo space (129.3 cubic feet!) featuring dual-level storage space and a wider luggage area. Opt for the the Smart Power Liftgate™ which allows for automatic opening of the tailgate when the key fob comes within three feet of the door. This makes it easier to toss those groceries in the back unlike other cars that might make you hop on one foot.

Reformed suspension gives a peacefully smooth ride with quad-bushing setup that contains sound-blocking materials in the wheel arches. In addition there is also thicker glass and soundproofing in the doors to block any unwanted noise from the outside world. The new rear suspension also reacts quickly to changing terrain and the stiffer bearings allow for a more exact steering response. Finely tuned external details make the Sportage a work of art, but the expanded interior offers more than just a pretty face.

The roomy interior seats 5 to accommodate all your co-pilots. There is increased headroom and legroom in both the front and the backseats giving a spacious passenger experience, too. A redesigned console angles towards the driver creating a cozy pocket with controls at your fingertips including optional 10 way power settings for the driver’s seat and a dual zone climate system. A new panoramic sunroof  is 4.1 inches longer offering maximum views of the skies above. There are five color options for the interior to create a space all you own. The EX and SX also have the optional blissful leather upholstery with three level heated front seats.

Touchscreen panels are available in each trim as well as a variety of technology to keep drivers connected. The LX has Bluetooth®, hands free operations, Sirius XM® radio and a rear camera display. The EX and SX feature Android Auto, Apple CarPlay®, and UVO eServices.  No road trip would be complete without good tunes, and each new Sportage comes has six speakers with a 160 watt audio system from Hardon Karman. It has an incredible sound that will permeate your sacred space and keep you driving.

Beyond the luxury and charm of the Sportage, it has a 6 speed automatic transmission with the AWD performing at 21 mpg city and 25 mpg highway and the FWD at 23 city and 30 highway. Its smooth ride and aggressive pick up can navigate any terrain you might throw its way. There are  also a variety of safety features to keep you out of harm’s way even if you happen to be the one to put yourself there. Add Forward Collision Warning and Autonomous Emergency Braking to aid in prevention of front end collisions with vehicles or pedestrians. The Lane Departure Warning System which has an audible warning and Blind Spot Detection with Lane Change Assist that detects vehicles as far as 230 behind. There is also Rear Cross Traffic Alert and Front & Rear Parking Assist to assist drivers in every environment.

The all new 201 Kia Sportage is designed with the traveler in mind. Its diversity makes it perfect for day to day life but ready for your next epic road trip.

  1. This looks like a very handsome car! I prefer vehicles like this one because there’s enough room for my 3 sons (going wild in the background) and all our things.
