If you haven’t heard of Tile yet, it’s a tiny water resistant bluetooth tracker that helps find your lost stuff in seconds. Attach, stick, or place Tiles inside everyday items and keep track of them in an easy-to-use app.
The app allows you to ring lost items just like you’d call a lost phone. If your Tile is within the 100-foot bluetooth range, it will play a tune until you find it.
But what if your item is not within 100 feet of you? What if something is lost or stolen in another city, state or even country?
One of the unique features of this bluetooth tracker is that Tile also features the ability to expand your search using all Tile apps in your community.
Imagine you lost an item. Let’s say you left your backpack on the subway. If your Tile was inside the bag, you could ask other phones in the community to help you search. Just select “Notify When Found” and as soon as someone running the Tile app comes within range of your bag, the Tile locator will send you its location.
You can also ask your friends to help you find your lost item by asking them to install and run the Tile finder app. This feature is 100% private, so no one knows you’re looking for a lost item but you. No one else will receive it’s location.
Creative Ways to Use a Tile Bluetooth Tracker
With all of Tile’s cool features we thought, there has to be some creative way to use Tile most haven’t thought of yet.
So we thought, and we thought, and here’s some creative uses for tile tracker we came up with.
Find Your Phone
Now I know what you’re thinking. Wait a minute. Aren’t I supposed to use my phone to find Tile? Yes, but it works both ways! For those of us that also tend to misplace our phones, if you have a Tile handy, just double press it. If your lost phone is within the 100-foot bluetooth range, it will loudly ring—even if you have it on silent.
Find Your Luggage
There are countless stories about people finding their lost or stolen luggage thanks to Tile.
Thanks to Tile’s community network feature we talked about above, he was able to locate the luggage in Switzerland – of all places!
Find Your Child
It’s every parent’s worst fear. You’re at a crowded amusement park, you look away for two seconds and POOF. Your child has disappeared.
Most of the time they have just walked around a corner or they’ve crouched down out of your line of sight, but sometimes they wander a little further. Or in my little sister’s case back in 1987 at Disney World, someone actually tried to kidnap her!
For peace of mind, I use Tile to track a person – my son. I like to attach a Tile to my son’s zipper, belt loop or put it in his pocket ANY time we travel together. (For more tips on traveling safely with a young child, check out our other informative post here)
Find Your Remote
I can’t tell you how many times our remote has grown legs and walked off. We turn the house upside down to no avail and then weeks later it turns up buried in a couch cushion we swear we checked before.
Stick this to your remote and you can pretend you don’t know about those dust bunnies under the couch a lot longer.
Find Your Keys
Ok ok. Creative? No. Necessary? Yes. I can’t tell you how many times a week I lose my keys – and most of the time they’re just buried in the bottom of my purse or in a pair of jeans that I threw into the dirty clothes hamper.
Find Your Pet
Our Bengal cat likes to think of herself as queen of the neighborhood. In fact, she even likes to sneak into the neighbors’ houses for a good nap, to steal the dog’s treats or other children’s toys (sorry kids!). She mostly likes to dart out the front door when we are trying to leave for the airport. I almost missed my flight once because I had to hunt her down before I could leave!
With a Tile on her collar, she won’t be able to hide under that car or inside her boyfriend’s house. And for those times we start to worry because we haven’t seen her in a few hours, my neighbors are just awesome enough to download the Tile app allowing us to use the community feature to find her.
Find Your Drone
With their relatively short range and wifi capabilities, you would think it would be impossible to lose track of a drone, yet people lose them all of the time. I might be one of those people.
And I really hated losing my beloved Mavic Pro drone (even if it was for just a couple hours). The Tile gives you an easy way to track a downed drone without interfering with its flight capabilities.
Find Your GoPro
Did you know there is an entire Facebook community, with nearly 4,000 members, dedicated to those who have lost and found their GoPro?
Imagine if all of those GoPro’s had a Tile attached? Thanks to the community feature, they could all be reunited with their owners.
Find Your Car
We have all been there before. We walk out of a building to stare blankly at row upon rows of cars, scrambling to remember which one was ours. In fact, had we even entered in through this set of doors or was it the other? And those theme park parking lots where you have to take a tram to get to the entrance? Forget about it.
And that’s exactly what you can do with Tile – just throw one in your glove box or center storage and forget about it.
Beat Pregnancy Brain
Pregnancy brain is a joy of having children that seems to stick around long after the 40-week mark, transforming into Mommy Brain for years after. When I was pregnant, I couldn’t keep track of anything and once the baby arrived, I could never keep track of his diaper bag. I was forever leaving it in obscure locations around the house, in the bottom of shopping carts or on changing tables in restrooms.
Not only does Tile give you the options to ring such items if you’re in range, the app automatically records the last time and place it saw your item. So, if you left it somewhere, you know where to look first – ahem, maybe the restroom at Target?
What unique ways would you use your Tile?
