Are you ready for spring and summer 2022? I know I am! With most of the northern hemisphere still experiencing chilly weather, it’s hard to imagine a time when you’ll be sipping a frozen cocktail by a beach somewhere or spending the afternoon tending to your vegetable garden. It’s always so exciting to get ready for the warmer weather, and there are a lot of things to do to prepare.
It’s never too early to start planning your outfits, thinking about vacations and making sure your skincare routine is appropriate for the new season. Here are a few tips to help you get prepared for the sunny season ahead.
Fitness
Who doesn’t want to look their best in a swimsuit? With the start of summer still several weeks away, now’s the time to knuckle down about diet and exercise.
Don’t have a gym membership? That’s ok! There are countless ways to exercise without getting sucked into a monthly subscription, from the seven-minute workout to just jogging around the neighborhood.
As far as dieting goes, find a meal plan that suits your taste buds and your wallet. Again, it doesn’t have to be through a subscription service. For instance, you could consult online meal guide tips for finding tasty and nutritious recipes with minimal fat, salt, and sugar. Or just simply make a commitment to eating healthier and cleaner by omitting some of your guilty pleasures (I’m looking at you, donut!)
Fashion
And now that you’re shedding that winter weight, it’s time to think about what you’re going to wear. If you want to get a jump start on the trends, take a look at some fashion blogs or magazines.
Pantone has already announced their color of the year for 2022: Very Peri. What does that mean for you? Time to stock up on some fun periwinkle blue clothing and accessories.
Of course, you don’t have to follow trends blindly. The most important thing is that you feel comfortable and confident in what you’re wearing. So, if you want to rock a one-piece swimsuit instead of a bikini, go for it! No matter what your style is, just make sure your clothes fit well and make you feel good.
And don’t forget about the essentials. For instance, make sure you have one or more pairs of sunglasses ready to go once the sun starts coming out. I’m always losing or breaking mine so I always make sure to stash a pair in my purse, in the car, and in the kitchen. I love that Costa sunglasses lenses offers replacements for other popular brands so you can still rock your favorite summer eyewear.
Accessories
In addition to sunglasses, there are plenty of other great accessories to help you enjoy the summer weather. For example, a great pair of sandals can take any outfit from drab to fab. And if you’re going to be spending time outdoors, don’t forget the wide brimmed hat!
I always like to have a few beach towels on hand as well, especially if I’m going on a trip. They come in handy for picnics, days at the park, and obviously, trips to the beach or pool.
And speaking of trips…
Vacation
Now that you’ve got your fitness and fashion game on lock, it’s time to start thinking about your spring break and summer vacations. The world is your oyster! Will you stay close to home or travel cross-country?
Summer is usually a peak travel season, with most folks cashing in their vacation time to take a trip or simply take it easy. Throw in the fact many people have been putting off vacations for over two years due to the pandemic, and the summer of 2022 is expected to see record travel around the world.
Rather than let yourself get deep into June before thinking about where you want to go or what you want to do, consider making your travel plans now. Doing so will help ensure availability, particularly for resorts and cities that see huge demand during the summer. It may also help you save money on your trip.
If you need some inspiration, start by looking up the most popular tourist destinations in your state or country, or dig a little deeper to find some hidden gems that are off the beaten path.
Or, you could even plan a staycation and take some time to explore your own city or town. There’s always something new to discover, even if you think you know everything there is to know about where you live.
Skincare
Of course, no matter where you end up spending your summer, you’re going to want to make sure your skin is looking its best. That means paying attention to sun protection, hydration, and exfoliation.
Start by investing in a good sunscreen with an SPF of 30 or higher. Apply it liberally every day, even on days when it’s cloudy or you don’t plan on spending much time outdoors. It only takes a few minutes for the sun’s rays to cause damage, so it’s better to be safe than sorry.
In addition to using sunscreen, make sure you drink plenty of water throughout the day. This will help keep your skin hydrated from the inside out. And if you’re planning on spending time in the pool or ocean, be sure to rinse off with fresh water as soon as possible to remove chlorine or salt water.
Finally, don’t forget to exfoliate your skin regularly. This will help slough off dead skin cells and reveal the softer, smoother skin underneath. You can use a physical exfoliator (like a sugar scrub) or a chemical one (such as an AHA or BHA serum). Just be careful not to overdo it, as this can lead to irritation or even breakouts.
Activities
When it comes to summer activities, the options are endless. From picnicking and hiking to swimming and stargazing, there’s something for everyone. If you’re stuck on ideas, here are a few of our favorites:
- Take a day trip to the beach or lake
- Visit an amusement park or water park
- Attend a concert or music festival
- Go camping or fishing
- Have a picnic in the park
- Take a road trip
- Explore a new town or city
- Visit a farmer’s market or go strawberry picking
- See a movie outdoors
- Go hiking at a National Park
No matter what you end up doing this summer, just make sure you enjoy yourself! These warm months always seem to fly by, so make the most of them while you can.
With spring here and summer on the way, now’s the time to get ready for hot weather. From looking your best to feeling your best to making sure you make the most of the season, it all boils down to planning and preparation. That way, when the sun starts shining, you can’t stop smiling.
